A Study on the Condition and the recognition of Sanhujori on Women with Sanhubyung

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives: The objective of this study was to survey with the performance of Sanhujori(postpartum care) and compare the western medicine and korean medicine according to women's Sanhubyung. Also to help women with Sanhubyung choose their treatment options and to provide basic data for the prevention and management of Sanhubyung.
Methods: The subjects were 228 women who experienced Sanhubyung. This research was conducted in G city, at out patient department of 4 western hospitals and 2 korean hospitals. The degree of performance of Sanhujori was measured on a 4-point scale divided by each area, and was compared in three groups.
Results: The degree of Sanhujori was 2.35, and that of postpartum care in hospitals was 1.63. The perception of traditional Sanhujori methods was ‘An indispensable postpartum care method for health’ (75.9%). The most effective method of postpartum care was ‘consolidate in harmony traditional Sanhujori and guidance of the medical team’ (88.2%).
Conclusions: The degree of Sanhubyung's improvement and satisfaction after treatment were higher in korean medicine than in western treatments. Therefore, the most efficient method of postpartum care must be integrated in harmony with the direction of the medical staff and traditional methods of Sanhujori.
